In the heart of Burnie, the City Mission North West Hub is more than just a building - it’s a collection of services providing a welcoming, safe space where people from all walks of life come for support, connection, and hope. For many in the community, it’s a first point of contact when life feels uncertain, and a place where they know they’ll be treated with respect and care.
Every day, the services bring City Mission’s values to life in tangible ways. City Kitchen serves warm, nutritious meals that do more than fill a stomach - they create space for conversation, friendship, and dignity. Children experiencing worry, change or grief find support through Inside Out 4 Kids. Facilitators create a safe space in local schools, where children can explore their emotions. Delivered programs equip children with tools and strategies to understand, express and manage their emotions, helping them build strong foundations for life long emotional wellbeing. Families and individuals in need can access Emergency Relief through Family Services with food, essential items and advocacy, and everyone can speak with a Chaplain for emotional and spiritual guidance, creating care for the whole person.
The focus for all services is about relationships and community. People often comment on the warmth and welcome they experience, the feeling of being seen and heard in ways that make a real difference. Staff and volunteers are at the heart of this, going above and beyond to offer not just services, but encouragement, guidance, and a sense of belonging.
What makes the North West Hub truly remarkable is how it brings together different services within City Mission into one area, creating a network of support that is practical, personal, and profoundly impactful. Every interaction - whether a meal served, a child supported, or a family assisted - contributes to building stronger, more connected communities across the North West.
The Hub is a testament to what can be achieved when compassion, dedication, and collaboration come together. It’s a place where lives are changed quietly, meaningfully, and every day - reminding us all why City Mission exists: to bring hope, grow people, and build community.
