Launceston City Community Christmas

The Launceston City Community Christmas is now a renowned city-wide Christmas lunch for anyone in our community looking for some community spirit and support on Christmas day. The event is hosted by Launceston City Mission, St.Vincent de Paul Society Tasmania, CatholicCare, The Salvation Army Launceston, Lauceston Benevolent Society, and supported by the City of Launceston of IGA.

This day is a key event for many in our community who are socially isolated, feel disconnected or lonely, particularly at Christmas time. It also provides an important opportunity for our five key charitable organisations to come together and undertake a collaborative event for our community. The event attracts broad scale community support through volunteer engagement and through the generous donations of community members and businesses.

The Charitable organisations, the Launceston City Council and Community in general now see the Launceston City Community Christmas as a critical part of Christmas in Launceston. To maintain, improve and grow the event we seek to partner with those in our community who know the importance bringing people together in joyful celebration.

'“The experience means a lot us who are studying and working on this beautiful island! We’ve got to know, and have warm conversations with locals. Maree, our Table Host volunteer, has been super supportive, lovely and affectionate!”
