Shaping a Stronger, More Connected Future: Welcome Phil Beeston, GM Projects & Partnerships

City Mission is pleased to welcome Phil Beeston as General Manager Projects & Partnerships

I’m genuinely grateful to be joining City Mission as General Manager Projects & Partnerships at such an important moment for our organisation and our communities across the North and Northwest. This work matters, and it’s a privilege to step into it alongside such dedicated teams.

One of the things that has always stood out to me about City Mission is that we’re about more than responding to crisis. We’re here to help people find stability, connection, and hope - and to create the kind of community where no one has to navigate hardship on their own. That’s the sort of impact that stays with people, and it’s what makes this role so meaningful for me.

Right now, the need for safe, affordable housing is front and centre across our region. But I also see this as a moment of opportunity - a chance to build practical, long‑term solutions that genuinely change lives. I’m excited to be supporting the growth of Mission 2 Home and the development of the Launceston Community Precinct . These projects are more than infrastructure; they’re part of building a Tasmania where more people feel secure, supported and connected.

A big part of my role is bringing people together - government, councils, service providers, funders, and community partners - so we can align our efforts and create real momentum. When we work with trust and clarity, the whole community feels the difference.

Before joining City Mission, I spent more than 20 years in the design and construction industries, working across complex projects, partnerships and community‑focused outcomes. I’ve also had the opportunity to serve in not‑for‑profit governance roles, including 15 years as a volunteer Director at Door of Hope Christian Church, where I finished up in 2024 after serving as Senior Vice Chairman and Treasurer. I’m a Graduate of the Tasmanian Leaders Program and the Australian Institute of Company Directors’ Company Directors Course - both shaping how I think about leadership, collaboration and long-term impact.

Outside of work, life is wonderfully full. My wife (we’ve been married 23 years) and I are raising our four kids, now aged between 14 and 21. I was born and raised in Launceston, and I’m happiest outdoors - hiking, trail running, or on a basketball court, either playing or coaching. Tasmania is home in every sense.

I’m proud to be part of City Mission and genuinely excited about what we can build together. The challenges are real, but so is the potential - and I’m looking forward to being part of the collective effort that helps people and communities thrive.
