Retail Assistants

​City Mission is seeking Part time Retail Assistants for our Mission Shops on the North West Coast in Devonport, Ulverstone, Burnie and Wynyard. The successful applicant/s will be required to work Saturdays.

Essential Qualifications/Experience:

  • Some experience in Retail Operations.
  • Ability to follow legislation pertaining to Retail Operations and Work Health and Safety requirements
  • Ability to operate within a diverse team
  • National Police Check is required for all roles at LCM

Desirable:

  • Experience or demonstrated capacity to work in an organisation adopting a Christian ethos.
  • Experience with EFTPOS.
  • Current Forklift Licence (or willingness to obtain).
  • MR/HR Licence (or willingness to obtain)
  • First aid certificate (or willingness to obtain).
  • White Card (or willingness to obtain).

The position is required to assist in one or more of Launceston City Mission’s Retail Shops in the delivery of quality retail goods and service.

The position requires the employee to develop positive working relationships with peers, management, the general public, stakeholders and other functional areas within the organisation.

Primarily a Retail Assistant will be responsible for: customer service, merchandising, maintaining and ordering stock, opening and closing the shop, and operation of equipment.

These are part-time positions and salary will be based on the General Retail Industry Award 2010 (MA000004).

Community Outreach Worker

Launceston City Mission is seeking an outgoing, caring and qualified individual to join us as a Community Outreach Worker. The role is Part-time (20 hours per week) and may include occasional weekend work.

Essential Qualifications/Experience:

  • Cert IV in Community Services/Youth Work or an associated qualification, or willing to undertake training towards this.
  • Demonstrated experience in staff and program leadership.
  • Highly developed written and verbal communication skills.
  • Current drivers licence.
  • Workplace level 2 First Aid certificate or willing to undertake.
  • Working with with Vulnerable People Card or willing to obtain.
  • Experience driving a large vehicle and towing a trailer; including attaching and removing trailer from vehicle.
  • Demonstrated ability to work unsupervised.
  • National Police Check is required for all roles at LCM.
  • Experience or demonstrated capacity to work in an organisation adopting a Christian ethos.
  • Experience in facilitating Youth and/or community Outreach events in cooperation with other community-based services, organisations and/or stakeholders.
  • A good understanding of how to operate community outreach based activities.
  • Ability to manage and support teams of volunteers.
  • Success in delivering positive and encouraging support to those in the community.
  • Highly developed skills in building positive key stakeholder relationships.
  • Success in delivering support to children with complex needs.

Desirable:

The key responsibility of the Community Outreach Worker is to facilitate community based outreach events that nurture community connections and assist in resourcing local communities by the provision of food and information relating to services and community events.

In order to facilitate events the Community Outreach Worker will also be responsible for: managing a team of volunteers; maintaining and developing positive stakeholder relations; managing resources and outreach facilities; and administration tasks. 

Salary will be based on the Social, Community, Home Care and Disability Services Industry Award 2010 [MA000100].
