Volunteering Positions



As a retail assistant you'll be helping us provide help and advice to a broad range of people who love shopping in our Mission Shops. Duties can include stocking shelves, merchandising and of course providing great service to our customers. Shifts are between the hours of 9am-5pm and you have the choice of working a half day or a full day.

Warehouse & Logistics


Our Youngtown and Burnie Warehouses are the nerve centre of our social enterprise activities with hundreds of thousands of items passing through each year. As a helper, you'll be tasked with sorting and pricing these items so we can move them quickly into our stores to sell so we can continue to fund essential services and programs.

Working hours between 9am-5pm and you can choose to work either a half or full day.


Responsible for collection of donated goods from drop off points, you'll help safely deliver items to our warehouse teams for sorting and distribution. A C-class licence is sufficient.

Our drivers work Monday-Saturday between 7:30am-4pm.


We are always in need of people with a forklift licence to help our Warehouse, Uptipity and Burnie Re-sale teams move donated goods throughout City Mission locations.

Working days are Monday-Saturday between 8am-5pm.


Moving with the Mission (MWTM) is a new service offering an affordable removal service for people on a low income or who are unemployed in Launceston. As a MWTM volunteer, you'll help us pack up and relocate the belongings and household items of people in need.


As a qualified tester and tagger, you will be part of our team charged with ensuring the items we sell in our shops are safe and comply with all relevant safety standards.

If you love great food, great coffee and making customers happy, our retro-style Youngtown Cafe is for you! Open from 10am-3:30pm Monday-Friday and 10:30am-2:30pm Saturday, you'll be helping brew up a storm with our state of the art coffee machine and serving delicious treats for morning and afternoon tea, to help provide an outstanding experience for our Mission Shop customers.


As Mother Teresa said, "If you can't feed a hundred people, then just feed one." When you work with us as a Kitchen Helper at either Morton's Place or City Kitchen, you'll be helping provide a warm, nourishing meal for someone in need in our local community.

As a volunteer Admin Assistant, you could bring your organisational skills to support a small but enthusiastic administration team in a variety of ways. The range of tasks could include: data entry, rostering, filing and answering phone calls, among other duties.

Fundraising & Marketing


As part of the Fundraising team, you'll help us to raise funds to deliver essential programs and services that transform the lives of people in need in our local community. As a team member, you'll assist in a range of tasks including direct marketing, fundraising and events. Plus, you'll have the opportunity to make some great new connections in your local community.

These roles have a high degree of flexibility and experience in events and marketing is not necessary but a friendly, can-do attitude is!

Virtual Volunteer


Here's the perfect role if you have limited time or are restricted in your capacity to travel to volunteer with us. Our virtual volunteers work from home with the flexibility to complete tasks around other busy life demands. These roles are administration-based so if you have some spare time, your own PC, internet connection and experience using Microsoft Office and/or social media, join our growing group of virtual volunteers.
