Read MoreOur volunteers come together from a range of different backgrounds to help us transform lives in our local community.
Our volunteer program operates in the North and North West of Tasmania. Established in 1854, City Mission is one of Tasmania's oldest charities and exists to provide assistance to those who have a physical, emotional, social or spiritual need.
Our Volunteers come together from diverse backgrounds. Everyone can play an important role in helping transform the lives of people in need. Whether you are a retired senior manager, hairdresser, teacher, cleaner, retail or hospitality worker, busy mum, young professional or someone with extraordinary BBQ skills, there is a place for you with City Mission Volunteers.
We understand life's busy, that's why we offer volunteer opportunities that can fit in with your lifestyle. You can volunteer on a regular basis such as weekly or monthly or you can choose to join us for special events and activities throughout the year. You can also check out our Virtual Volunteering opportunities if you're unable to travel to us or want to volunteer some time after hours. However, if travel distance is an issue for you, talk to us about available options.
As part of our team, you'll have access to training opportunities and we'll celebrate your achievements as part of our monthly volunteer recognition program.
We make joining us as a volunteer as easy as we can, follow these 3 simple steps:
Step 1:
Fill in the online registration with your contact details and choose the areas you are most interested in working, the position descriptions can help you decide. Once you've done this, one of our team will be in touch to arrange a time to meet with you.
Step 2:
At your meeting you'll learn more about City Mission and discuss your availability. We'll also ask you to fill out an Australian police check, we'll lodge and pay for this on your behalf. You will also need to complete a Working with Vulnerable People application.
Step 3:
Once your paperwork has been processed and police check approved, we'll contact you to arrange your first shift and for you to meet your supervisor and team mates.
Help us to deliver numerous services and programs whilst making new friendships, gaining work experience or even sharing skills!
