Christmas Appeal 2022
Posted on November 11, 2022
Everyone deserves a Merry Chrismas.
Launceston City Mission and major sponsor Tones Electrical, will launch its annual Christmas Appeal on Friday, November 4, 2021.
While Christmas should be a time of joy, many people find it difficult to do so. This year City Mission will be asking our community to 'give joy' back into people's lives by supporting local families and individuals in need.
The rising costs of living and rent have caused many residents in our community to lose their homes or experience food insecurity for the first time.
Donations to the City Mission Christmas appeal will help put food on the table and toys under the tree so kids can wake up to a present on Christmas Day.
“Families and individuals in our local community are facing considerable financial challenges this holiday season,” City Mission’s CEO Stephen Brown said.
“Every day, we see people who cannot afford the essentials of life; the extra pressure of an upcoming holiday meal or gift for the kids can make things more challenging.
"We believe that everyone should be able to celebrate and experience joy at Christmas, especially kids unwrapping the new toy from under the tree is such a special moment.”
Last year we supported over 1000 individuals and families, providing financial assistance, meals and groceries, as well as toys for children.
“Our services are made possible by our community's incredible generosity, “Mr Brown said.
“We are very thankful for everyone who is planning to donate so we can give joy this Christmas.”
