Christmas Appeal 2021
Posted on November 04, 2021
Launceston City Mission and major sponsor Tones Electrical will launch its annual Christmas Appeal on Friday, November 5, 2021.
Christmas should be a time of joy but that isn’t the reality for many, this year City Mission will be asking our community to ‘give joy’ back into people’s lives and help support local families and individuals who are facing hardship this festive season.
Many within our community are now facing homelessness or housing insecurity for the first time or are having to sacrifice spending on necessities such as food and power to keep up with increases in their rental payments.
Donations to the City Mission Christmas appeal will help put food on the table and toys under the tree so kids can wake up to a present on Christmas Day.
“Many individuals and families in our local community are facing considerable financial challenges this festive season," City Mission’s CEO Stephen Brown said.
“We see people every day who are struggling to afford life’s essentials, the extra pressure of trying to afford a simple Christmas meal or a gift for children can be overwhelming.
"We believe that everyone should be able to celebrate and experience joy at Christmas, especially kids unwrapping the new toy from under the tree is such a special moment.”
Last year we supported over 1000 individuals and families, providing financial assistance, meals and groceries, as well as toys for children.
“The services we provide are possible because our community is incredibly generous,” Mr Brown said.
“We are very thankful for everyone who is planning to donate so we can give joy this Christmas.”
