Bookfest returns for 2021
Posted on June 22, 2021
City Mission’s annual Bookfest is back Friday, July 2 to Saturday, July 3, 2021, at The Launceston Conference Centre, Door of Hope.
After having to cancel the event last year due to COVID-19, the much-loved event is back and bigger than ever.
This will excite bargain hunters, book worms as well as collectors and antique book enthusiasts who are sure to get in early. There will be thousands of pre-loved books, games, puzzles, records, DVDs, collectables, stamps, and art supplies on sale.
City Mission’s Warehouse and Logistics Manager Jeremy Van Engen said collectors were in for a treat.
“We are very excited to be able to hold Bookfest again this year, this will be the biggest one yet with over 50,000 items across a wide range of genres, there will be something for all reading appetites,”he said.
“There will be a range of rare and Tasmanian books along with a selection of stamps that should entice collectors.”
With more items to sell, City Mission has moved the event to larger premises at the Launceston Conference Centre, Door of Hope.
“We have almost double previous years stock, but we also need to ensure that the event is COVID safe, the conference centre allows us to do just that,” Mr Van Engen said.
Proceeds from this year’s Bookfest will go towards supporting City Mission’s Services that operate within the community.
“Bookfest has become one of our major fundraising events and the support from the community every year is overwhelming,” Mr Van Engen said.
