Sophie comes to the City Mission team from Yorkshire in the UK, with extensive experience in dealing with adult offenders, within child protective services, drug and alcohol services, youth justice services and the UK Police Force.
Sophie is originally from Yorkshire in the UK and recently moved to Tasmania, commencing as the new Youth Alcohol and Other Drug Support Worker at The Mish. Sophie has a Degree in Social Work and has developed her skill set through working and volunteering at different organisations. Sophie has experience working with adult offenders, within child protective services, drug and alcohol services, youth justice services and the UK Police Force.
Through her work with these organisations, Sophie has gained an understanding of the struggles young people go through in today’s society.
"I really want to help support young people that are challenged by their day to day lives and need a supportive person to help them realise their worth and potential", said Sophie.
Sophie is also passionate about supporting young people impacted by Alcohol and Drugs through their recovery journey.
"Often AOD issues occur due to difficulties in a young person’s life. This makes it difficult to get young people to engage. But I'm persistent and won't give up on anyone that wants support, no matter how small the steps that need to be taken.
