New roof for Morton's Place
Posted on May 23, 2017
Morton's Place has successfully secured a grant for a project to replace the current roof and install insulation.
The Honourable Michael Ferguson came by last week to see the space in person with our CEO Stephen Brown and Client Services Operations Manager Ray Green.
Morton's Place 'day centre' provides meals, a safe space and social support to people who are marginalised by poverty, homelessness, mental health issues and especially social isolation.
Morton's Place offers nutricious meals, a welcoming environment and Launceston's only free laundry and bathroom facilities for people who are sleeping rough or who simply cannot afford, or manage, to feed themselves.
The project will involve the replacement of the current roof and the installation of insulation to enable improved temperature management and cost efficiency. The project will deliver basic structure improvements as we are working to improve the overall facility.
Funding is being provided by the Department of State Growth.
