Mentoring Program Re-Engages Youth

Paul Ballard, one of our Youth Mentors at The Mish, has seen a great result with one of his clients.
Paul has been catching up with this particular client for just over a year. When he first came into the mentoring program, he was quite disengaged.
“He was not going to school and one of our goals was to get him back into education,” Paul explained.
After just a few months, Paul said that his client enrolled at a local high school and was accepted to study part-time. He attended this school one day per week until the end of last year.
This was a very encouraging result of his progress in such a short amount of time. Paul said that his client has kept up a great level of enthusiasm for education and is currently studying full-time with Tasmanian eSchool.
Paul also mentioned that his client is reacting well to being challenged on an educational level and has improved his ability to develop and maintain friendships.
