Open Services and Change in Operations

All services listed below are following the advice from the relevant Federal and State Governments authorities, including the Australian Government’s Department of Health.

Youngtown, Newnham and Burnie Mission Shop (only) - Open

The Youngtown, Newnham and Burnie Mission Shops have been re-open with changes to their opening hours for now.

Monday to Friday - 10:00am to 4:00PM

This is the first step in re-opening all of our Mission Shops. We are not taking donations at this stage but hope to resume normal operations in the near future.

The safety of our staff, volunteers and customers is paramount, so we will be observing current health guidelines including social distancing. We count on your understanding and patience with us, and with each other as we learn to work and shop in this new environment.

Uptipity and the Launceston Recycling Centre - Open

Uptipity and the Launceston Recycling centre are operational again at normal trading hours.

Mission Garden and Salvage - Open

Mission Garden and Salvage has been re-opened with changes to their operating hours for now.

Monday to Friday - 9:00am to 3:00pm

Orana House - Open

Orana house is operating as normal at present based on Communities Tas guidelines.

Mission health - Open

Mission health still operating Thursday's, running from 9am – 12noon with the last appointment 11.30am.

Morton's Place - Open | Change in Operations
Morton’s Place kitchen is open and continues to operate, now offering takeaway food options to the entire community at a very low cost.

  • Takeaway hot breakfast available from 8:30 to 9:30am
  • Takeaway lunch is available from 11:00am to 12:30pm

Takeaway meal costs

  • $5 hot meals
  • $3 frozen meals
  • $2 sandwiches.

Shower & Laundry facilities continue to operate from 8:30am to 12:00pm

Burnie City Kitchen - Open | Change in Operations

Burnie's City Kitchen is open Tuesday to Friday 9:00 - 13:00 and is now offering takeaway food options to the entire community at a very low cost.

  • Takeaway egg & bacon toasted sandwiches available from 9:00am
  • Takeaway two course meals available from 12:00pm

Takeaway meal costs

  • $3 hot meals
  • $2 sandwiches.

We also have a separate table with goods (vegetables, milk, cereals, breads etc.) available for people doing it tough from 9:00- 15:00. For those struggling to make ends meet, we are offering a special meal delivery anywhere between Wynyard & Devonport. Meal deliveries are only available in the afternoon and for people in hardship, just text Scott on 0409227003 and he will look after you.

Missiondale - Open | Change in Operations

Missiondale still receiving referrals, intaking clients and delivering program with some restrictions on visits and external appointments.

Serenity House - Open | Change in Operations

Serenity House is still operating as normal, although with a reduced capacity. We are still receiving and processing referrals. There are no visitors allowed during stay and some restrictions apply to clients in the program regarding external appointments.

Family Services - Open | Change in operations

For the safety of our clients and team, City Mission will cease face to face appointments until further notice. As we continue to provide options for our community, we will be moving all appointments to a phone based system.

Drop in services will also cease and no longer be available. All client appointments will need to be made via Launceston reception by calling 6335 3000. Thank you for your understanding and for supporting City Mission as we continue to provide services during these challenging times.

Chaplaincy - Launceston and North West - Open | Change in Operations

Chaplaincy is still operating. A new ‘Care Team’ of Chaplains and Chaplaincy Assistants are available to clients and staff via phone contact or video conference.

Inside Out 4 Kids - Change in Operations

Face to face delivery of Inside Out 4 Kids programs (IO4K) is recommencing. Teachers, parents, family members, community organisations, and other users of the service are encouraged to contact the IO4K Team via email (insideout4kids@citymission.org.au) for further information. A new IO4K Facebook page has been created which provides easily accessible information for teachers, parents, carers, and others – everything from ideas for activities to do with children through to tips on how to have conversations with young children.

The Mish (including Mish Makers) - Change in Operations

Young people (13-25) in need of support are encouraged to contact The Mish via email (youth.referrals@citymission.org.au). Mentors are available to support young people transitioning back to school, adjusting to changes in life, experiencing fear and anxiety about the future, and other issues that may have arisen during the last few months. Face to face programs will recommence soon. Keep up to date with all that is happening by following The Mish on Facebook and Instagram.

Mission 2 a Future and Mission 2 Employment - Change in Operations

Face to face Mission 2 a Futuere and Mission 2 Employment have been suspended. We still operating, connecting with clients via phone and video conferencing.

Temporarily Suspended Services

Other Mission Shops – Launceston and North West - Suspended

From 1st of April all Mission Shops (Launceston and North West) and Resale (Tip) Shops (Central Coast Resale Shop and Burnie Resale Shop) will be temporarily closed until further notice. This include sales and collections of goods too. We know the shops offer more than a retail service to the local community, it is also a support service to the community so everyone seeking assistance please contact our main office by calling 6335 3000.
