Community Outreach Trailer

Community Outreach operates in Launceston and along the North West Coast. Run by City Mission Outreach Workers and a team of volunteers, the Outreach Trailers provide food, friendship and activities that encourage positive interactions between community members. The Outreach team also provides information on service referrals and what's happening in the community.

Local residents are invited to come along to outreach events, enjoy a free sausage or two and some friendly conversation. They are normally held in parks, community centres and schools.

We also partner regularly with other services including the Northern Suburbs Community Centre, Police & Citizens’ Youth Club, YMCA, Neighbourhood and Community Houses

The service is made possible through funding from City Mission, Communities, Sport and Recreation Tasmania and the Motors Foundation (N.W coast).

How to find us?

The Outreach Trailer visits suburbs in Launceston between 2.30pm 4:30pm, children can also enjoy activities provided by PCYC at most events.

You can follow the Outreach Trailer locations on Facebook.

The Outreach Program on the North West Coast operates from 3:30pm – 5:00pm in various suburbs; East Devonport, Burnie and Smithton. Follow their locations on Facebook.

Success Story

Megan's Story

Megan was referred to us a couple of years ago as someone in need. Her electricity had been disconnected and she was behind in her rental payments. Food supplies were also low due to the amount owed in rent and she was unsure how to feed herself or two sons.

One of our emergency relief case workers in Family Services helped Megan by contacting her power supplier and negotiating a payment plan to then have it reconnected. Family Services also provided Megan with food vouchers and assisted her with Centrelink paperwork to allow her older son to start receiving benefits.

Megan was looking forward to having light and warmth in her home again, food on the table and less financial pressure.

I think you are amazing, I’m overwhelmed with your kindness and help.
