Mission Shop
Mission Shops play a significant role in reaching out to our community. Not only do the seven stores provide a great range of new and pre - loved merchandise at very affordable prices, they also provide opportunities for members of the community to volunteer, learning new skills and making new friends. Some come to work in the stores through a number of different programs such as "Work for the Dole" scheme too.
Through donations of your pre - loved and re - usable belongings, the Mission Shops provide clothing, books, furniture and other household goods at prices that people doing life tough can afford. Nothing is wasted. Even clothing not suitable for resale is cut up and bagged to be sold as cleaning cloths. The funds raised through the sales of the merchandise is fed back into other services of the City Mission such as Missiondale drug and alcohol addiction recovery centre, youth work and Nexus House, providing supported accommodation in the North West Coast region of Tasmania.
