Crisis Unit
We help by providing:
- Crisis Accommodation for homeless men
aged 18 and over.
- A friendly, supportive and professional
environment.
- Linkages to other City Mission support
services.
- Case Management co-ordination and
support
- Safe and secure facility.
- Nutritious breakfast and evening meal.
- Staff, who will spend time with each person
exploring the circumstances leading
up to their homelessness and/or current
situation.
- Referrals to a transitional support
services
(These are people who will provide
assistance in s e c u r i n g
longer term accommodation to
people who are in shelters)
- Referrals to agencies who can provide
rent and bond assistance.
- Assistance and resources in searching
for other possible medium to long
term accommodation options in and
around Launceston.
- Assistance in contacting drug and
alcohol support services to provide
advise, counselling or rehabilitation.
- Assistance in contacting gambling
support services.
- Advocacy when communicating with
services such as Housing Tasmania,
Public Trustees, Aurora or others.
- Referrals to counselling or psychiatric
assistance. This assistance could
be provided through Centrelink, Mental
Health Services, City Mission
Family Services, or other professional
counsellors.
- For those accommodated in our service
assistance by arranging furniture,
linen or other household items
through City Mission Family Services.
Service Limitations
Due to the high demands on our services, accommodation is limited and so the expectation is that
all clients work with us to find suitable long term alternatives. We do realize that people come to us in
unique situations and we endeavour to be flexible in the way we deliver our client focused assistance.
