The Care Factor is an early intervention program that aims to increase protective factors in students by building emotional resilience and developing techniques for positive social behaviour and effective problem-solving.
An initiative of the Launceston City Council in partnership with City Mission's Youth on Paterson program, The Care Factor will enable Grade 7 students, who are at a critical stage of their development, to develop skills that empower them to be more resilient in dealing with situations both in and out of school.
Participants will develop skills in emotional awareness, problem-solving, assertiveness, and decision-making. It will help students develop an in-depth understanding about their thinking style and how this impacts on their emotions and behaviours.
It will also help students understand their rights and responsibilities in public spaces, to build empathy for others, and develop skills, attitudes and behaviours that help them build respectful relationships.
The Care Factor aims at developing positive relationships with peers, teachers and other adults, while connecting students to services within the community - making for a safer, more cohesive and inclusive school setting, and creating a thriving and friendly City for the
community.
